I only know of one way to truly land a $200k to $500k+ job offer (in tech), working for a company that you admire, doing work that you enjoy, while getting paid your worth.

In this edition, I’m breaking down the entire process + adding resources!

The system I’m going to show you below is proven and brings predictable results. If you know of a better way, please let me know…but the system you’ll see below has helped clients recently achieve results like these:

$460k job offer 2
$110:hr job offer 3
$384k job offer 4
$290k job offer 5
$25k salary increase 6

** I could keep going, but I think you get the point. ***

So let’s break this system down in detail.

There are 5 parts to it, and I’m going to break them down in sequential order. If you are hoping to find results like these, I’d recommend following the steps in order. Let’s dive in.

Step 1: The Career Audit

The Career Audit, for reference, is perhaps the most important part of the entire process.

For further context, every single time we begin working with a new client, the Career Audit is how we start. Nothing comes before this happens.

It’s a strategic exercise that helps you get clarity on 3 things:
(1) What type of role to go after
(2) Why to go after it
(3) What level should you target for that role

This is the part that most people overlook. Either because they don’t know how to do it, or they don’t even know that they should do it in the first place. When done correctly, you’ll have something that most people don’t have: clarity + confidence.

  • Clarity on what to go after and why
  • And the confidence to know that you can actually get it

HINT: The leveling aspect is critical here.

Another common mistake that I see people make….especially after they’ve been laid off…they will usually target the same level role as the one they just held.

If they were a Director when getting laid off, they’ll typically go for another Director role.

BUT, if you were in your previous role for at least 2 to 5 years, you’re likely ready to go after a Senior Director or even a VP role. You’ll see why/how once you use the resource below.

Doing the audit almost always ensures career progression and helps avoid career stagnation.

Step 2: Resume & LinkedIn

Next..(and ONLY after you’ve got clarity on the role you’re targeting & why) it’s time to create a resume and LinkedIn profile.

Why AFTER the Career Audit?
Because another common mistake I see people making: they will usually create a resume immediately after getting laid off, and in it they’ll talk about everything they ever did.

Logically, how can you expect to receive a new position if all you talk about is everything you ever did?

Instead, the better way to move forward is to write your resume and LinkedIn profile in a way that speaks to the role you’re targeting next.

Again, if the Career Audit is done correctly, you’ll find that there isn’t a big difference between the Director position you held and the Senior Director position that you’re targeting.

Step 3: Generating Interviews (w/o spending countless hours applying)

Alright, so you know the role you’re targeting. You also know why. And you have a high-converting resume and LinkedIn profile created.

Next up: You need some interviews.

I’ll let you in on a little secret: 98% of our clients land interviews through something called Proactive Outreach.

This is where they find and reach out directly to Recruiters and Hiring Managers that work for the companies that are interested in.

Step 4: Turning Interviews Into Job Offers

Alright, so you are now generating interviews.

That means, we have to crush the interviews.

Now I could type an entire novel on all things related to interviews (frameworks, tactics, the psychology, etc.)

But rather than doing that, I have a better idea.

Step 5: Negotiating Your Worth

YES!! You made it to the offer stage. CONGRATS!

Now comes the part you might dread: negotiating your offer.

There is a difference between negotiating and intelligently negotiating.

The strategy to intelligently negotiate your worth is called ‘The Chinese Menu Philosophy’.

It works 97% of the time.

RESOURCE:   How to Negotiate Your Worth

And there you have it.

That is the entire strategy for landing a $200k to $500k+ job offer in today’s market; laid out from start to finish.

Again – follow it in sequential order, otherwise, it will not work.

That covers it for this edition! If you made it this far, thank you!!
Have a great week ahead and see you in the next one!
Yours in abundance,
Gaurav
