Stress is expensive. Here’s proof.

I wanted to make today’s blog short and share something that no one tells you when you’re job searching:

Spare a minute and do the math with me:

Let’s say that you’re targeting a $250K role and that’s what you used to make, too. That would mean that each month you don’t land an offer you are losing $20,800 in lost income.

Now multiply that by the number of months you’ve been “figuring it out.”

Lost income by months at $250k:

• 1 month w/o a job = $20,800
• 9 months w/o a job = $187,200
• 1.5 years w/o a job = $374,400

See how quickly it can add up?

• It’s the way the stress slowly eats at your confidence.
• How it shows up in your interviews.
• How it affects your energy, your mindset, even your relationships.

I know because I talk to people every day who are silently burning out trying to do this alone.

They always hesitate on hiring a career coach, because they think it’s too expensive.

But deep down, I know they know the truth. It’s more expensive to keep doing it on their own. But because they’ve never invested in themselves before, especially in this sort of fashion, it’s a concept that scares them to death.

But most successful people know a little secret:

What does the other side of success look like?

• You feel better
• You sleep better
• You are happier
• You have less money problems
• You can take more vacations
• You can save more
• You can invest more
• You can afford to support your loved ones more
• I can keep going, but I think you get it

The other thing I’ll say, too:

Landing a $200k–$500k+ job offer isn’t fun if it takes you over 9 months to 1.5 years to do so. It’s especially not fun if it’s sinking your bank account, your happiness, and your ability to show up for your loved ones the way they deserve.
