How to Land Interviews Part 1 (replay)
Earlier this week, I shared the playbook that someone used to land 7 interviews in 15 days (all w/o applying).
Here’s the link to the playbook
Then in Part 1 of this two-part series, we talked about 1/2 of the process that is required for this to work effectively.
And in Part 2, Katie and I are going to teach you:
- How to find opportunities you want (beyond just job boards)
- Who to reach out to & how to find them to start convos
- What to say to them (w/ the scripts that convert)
This way, you can begin landing interviews at companies you admire, for roles you want as well (w/o spending countless hours applying to jobs).
If you feel like you’d benefit from this, we’d love for you to join Part 2.
A Quote that Changed My Life
When I was 26, a mentor told me something that changed my entire outlook and it’s served me ever since.
I want to share it with you today.
By the time I turned 26, I had:
1. Been laid off twice
2. Had 10 different jobs
3. Hadn’t made anything of myself
I was struggling to say the least.
What made it worse was that everyone else around me (friends I knew well) were “crushing it.”
They had:
– Good jobs
– At great companies
– Buying their first home
– Taking fancy vacations
At this point, I was shifting the blame all over the place.
I’d say dumb things like:
“They got lucky.”
“They went to a better school.”
“Must be nice to come from a rich family.”
Then, my mentor dropped the bomb on me and she said something that I didn’t want to hear, but absolutely needed to hear it:
And start obsessing about how they got it.”
Her point?
Success leaves clues. Instead of fixating on who got hired, start focusing on how they did it.
If you’re not where you want to be – yet, I see you.
Here’s 3 things that helped me:
- Dissect the path – Don’t just see the win. Study the climb. Scroll people’s LinkedIn. What roles did they take before this? What skills did they build along the way? What networking groups were they a part of?
- Rewrite your strategy – I realized that it was a competency problem. I just didn’t have a destination in mind. It helps to get clear on what you want first, because if you don’t know where you’re going, then any road can get you there.
- Reframe “failure” – I stopped looking at rejection as a sign of “I’m not good enough.” And started viewing it as, “I’m trying.” You eventually can get on base (or hit a home run) if you give yourself enough at-bats.
If you made it this far, thank you.
If you’re in a season of struggle. Just remember that it’s temporary. Your past does not dictate your future. It simply shapes it.
That’s it for this edition. Hope to see you at the LinkedIn Live next week!
Yours in abundance,
~ Gaurav
P.S. Something that I’m struggling with: My daughter is no longer a Threenager. 🙁
They grow up too fast!
